Walker Diving was hired by Crossing Construction to rebuild the timber fender on the Route 95 Bridge at Darby Creek. The work involved completely removing the existing fender and then installing a new timber fender system. Working from a barge, Walker Diving used divers with underwater chain saws to cut apart the old fender system. Next the divers installed new notched vertical timbers using epoxy anchor bolts. Finally, new horizontal face boards were connected to the new vertical timbers. Strong tidal currents and restricted overhead clearance required Walker Diving to set up a specially-equipped barge to address these issues. (2005)
