In early 2006 Walker Diving was contracted by Beaver Concrete Construction to remove and install over 700 anodes at LaGuardia airport for the Port Authority of NY & NJ for most of 2006. The anodes to be removed consisted of a bracket-supported zinc piece on a long piece of rebar. The new anodes were attached to the pile using clamps and set screws. This project had its own set of challenges – for example, it was very tide dependent as the low clearance prevented work during high tide, requiring off-hour shifts. There was also other work being carried out which meant a good amount of coordination was needed.
